6th graders are starting on an Internet Safety project using Microsoft's PowerPoint. They are learning how to change the font color, size, and style. They will also know how to insert clip art and pictures into slides and how to animate and transition the slides.
They will be working on this unit until fall break.

8th graders are still studying about business practices. We are finishing up Entrepreneurship and are moving on to Personal Finances. This is always a fun unit to teach because so many students are completely unaware of how the 'real world' operates financially! Several activities we do give the kids a good idea of what adults go through; balancing a checkbook, using credit cards (with an explanation of interest and how much it costs), paying bills, etc.
A fun game we do that is associated with this unit is called "On Your Own". Students are always amazed at how hard it is to actually live independently!

The final activity for this unit will be to make a PowerPoint presentation on Internet Safety rules.

7th graders are still working in Microsoft Word. We are learning how to create and format tables and outlines the easy way - by letting the computer do all the work!
We'll do some more with graphics and create a timeline and then start working on a web page.

8th graders are studying about businesses. Even though this is computer class, new state standards actually call the class "Business and Computer Science". We will be learning about entrepreneurship, marketing, business networking, risk management, and other business topics.
There are many online resources to help with this topic. Some of them, which include games, are:
http://www.practicalmoneyskills.com/games/ (which includes a game called "Financial Football")
