We are beginning a new unit on Geometric constructions. We are viewing some power point demonstrations and then performing our own constructions today and tomorrow. No homework for tomorrow. There will be an emphasis on algebra problems for warm ups and for future homework assignments. The CRCT test at the end of the year has a good deal of algebra in it. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

We are reviewing all the types of problems that will be on the test on Thursday. We took notes covering adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. All the students may use these notes on the test. Wednesday we will have a practice test to help the students take the test on Thursday.
The homework is to study the notes for at least 20 minutes each night. All the students were told that and it was written on the smart board; they were given time to copy it down in their agendas as is the habit whenever there is homework.

We are working on 1 and 2 step equations in class. For example: 2x = 10 is a 1 step equation, and 2x +4 = 14 is a 2 step equation. We solve for x, as in x = 5 by undoing the operations in the problem.
There is no homework for this week.

Here is the homework for tomorrow:
Draw the algebraic picture for 3x = 18
Please make sure that your student(s) have complete notes that are easy to read and can be used easily on any quiz or test they may take. I'm finding that even though the staff has explained how to take notes and how to keep them organized, many students do not follow the instructions. I've found that numerous students have disorganized notes or they don't write down the notes. Unfortunately, the last 2 test grades show this clearly. Both of my tests were open note tests, the students were informed ahead of time they could use their notes and the second test was a re-test after we had gone over every problem. As a teacher, I really need your help with this. Thank you,
Mr. Imler

The students were shown their tests they took last Friday. We reviewed all the problems and due to some lower grades, we will be retesting tomorrow. They will be able to use their notes again just like last time. The purpose is to improve their understanding and grades. The students were told to bring home their practice problems they wrote today and to study for the test.
