Title: READING

Students should have an A.R. book to read. All students should have a chapter book and bring it with them to class each day. Students should be reading their books on their own at home, also. When a student completes the book they can take an accelerated reader test at school to earn points. Our goal this year is to read 25 books. All students have a reading log in which to record what they read. Each time a student reads, they should record the pages in their reading log. This is to document what they have read in hopes to achieve the 25 book goal.

For the first nine weeks grading period, students are to earn 10 accelerated reader points. Students will be given some class time to read silently. The majority of student reading should be done at home. I suggest reading for 30 minutes each night. If a student is being responsible and doing the right thing, they should have no trouble reaching their 10 points for this grading period. All students will be given a grade at the end of the nine weeks based on the number of a.r. points they earn.

If a student gets 10 or more a.r. points they will receive a grade of 100. If a student earns 9 a.r. points they will receive a grade of 90, etc... This will count as a major grade- meaning it will be entered as a grade 3 times. So it is important for all students to be reading.
