Students can view the television show NUMB3RS that airs on CBS on Fridays at
10pm. The show's entire theme is how math is used to solve FBI cases. Please
view this show with your student. It is a prime time television show and at
times the content might not ALWAYS be appropriate for middle school kids. Please view with your kids to ensure its appropriate content. I think
that the show does a good job of showing how mathematics carries over into
real life and is used beyond just what is done in a classroom.
For the extra credit, the student must complete the following:
WRITE A TWO PARAGRAPH SYNOPSIS OF THE NUMB3RS EPISODE
-Paragraph 1 should be focus on a brief account of the episode--like a short
summary
-Paragraph 2 must address how Charlie and Don used mathematics to solve the
problem in the episode.
Each paragraph will contain 4-5 complete sentences to receive full points
available for extra credit.
YOU MAY COMPLETE THIS TWICE IN the 1st 9 WEEKS!!!!
It will count as two extra credit test points or five extra credit quiz points.
*************EXTRA CREDIT IS RARE AND NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE. IT WILL ALSO NOT BE ACCEPTED IF STUDENTS ARE NOT TURING IN MOST OF THEIR CLASS WORK*****************************
