Monday- PowerPoint Presentation on European colonization, discussion, and notes.
Begin textbook assignment in the World book: pp. 478-481. Define vocabulary, people, and places. Answer questions 1,2, and 5 on p. 481.
Tuesday- Finish textbook assignment and discuss British colonization of Australia.
Discuss historical atlas illustrations of the silk road and products of the East Indies, trade routes, and the Age of Exploration.
Wednesday- Discuss imperialism in Asia and Africa and how this contributed to the outbreak of the Great War (WWI).
Thursday- Discuss other causes of WWI. PBS website has some great illustrations to describe this dynamic time in history.

Monday- Geography of Europe continued. Students will finish completing their maps and will use their maps to play a geography game on the smartboard. This will help prepare them for the geography test on Thursday.
Tuesday- Students will compare and contrast the location, climate, and natural resources of the United Kingdom and Russia. Students will again use their maps to play a geography game on the smartboard. This will help prepare them for the geography test on Thursday.
Wednesday-Students will compare and contrast the location, climate, and natural resources of the Germany and Italy. Students will play a geography game on the smartboard in order to prepare for the geography test on Thursday.
Thursday-Geography test
Environmental issues in Europe: acid rain in Germany, air pollution in the United Kingdom, and the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl, Ukraine.
Friday- Film on the cultural characteristics of Europe.

Monday- Culture Collage
Students will be creating collages to represent
elements of their culture. These will be due on
Wednesday.
Tuesday- This will be the last day for students to work on
their collage in class. If they don't finish in
class, it will be homework.
Wednesday- Students will present their Culture Collage to
their classmates. (Culture Collage due)
Students will then take a vocabulary quiz.
We will then begin with a map activity looking at the
atlases and geography of Europe.
Thursday- Continue map activity
Discuss the topography, location of cities, and trade
routes of Europe.
Friday- European history: film and questions.
