Our nine-weeks computer test is planned for Wednesday. The grade will count as a quiz grade. Our End-of-NineWeeks Final will be on Thursday. We will review on Monday and Tuesday.

Following is a review for the test.

Review for Integers, Algebra, Properties, Order, Translations, and Evaluations Test.
Rules for adding/subtracting:
If two numbers are positive, add and the answer is positive.
If two number are negative, add and the answer is negative.
If the numbers are opposites, subtract the absolute values and take the sign of the larger.
When subtracting, rewrite as an addition problem a – b = a + - b or a- (- b) = a + b.
Rules for multiplying/dividing:
If two numbers have the same sign, the answer is positive.
If two numbers have different signs, the answer is negative.

Add/Subt/Mult/Div the Integers. Write the problem and give the answer.

1. – 6 + 5
-6 - 5
10 + - 3
10 - (- 3)
- 4 + - 9
- 4 - (- 9)

2. -6(5)
-6/5
10(- 3)
10/(- 3)
- 4(- 2)
- 4/(- 2)

3. – 9 – 5
4. 8 – (- 6)
5. – 8 + 4
6. 12 – 15
7. – 15 ÷ 5
8. –5(-4)
9. - 9 ÷ (- 3)
10. – 12(4)

The order of operations is PEMDAS
1. Do the inside of ( ) first.
2. Complete exponents next.
3. Multiply/Divide from left to right whichever comes first.
4. Add/Subt from left to right whichever comes first.

Use the order of operations to evaluate the following .
11. 5(3) + 4
12. 6(5 – 3) + 2(3 – 2)
13. 25 – (10 – 3)
14. – 36 ÷ (14 – 2)
15. 52 - 2(4 + 2)
16. (6 – 4)3 + 4
17. 2 + 3(17 – 42)

Replace the variables and find the value.
Evaluate for the given values of the variables
a = 6, b = 5, c = 10, and d = 3.
18. abc + d
19. c/d – d
20. d – c
21. c2 + d(a – c)

Remember that “subtracted from” and “less than” are backward words.
5 subtracted from 8 is 8 – 5.
4 less than 2 is 2 – 4.
Translate each of the following into a mathematical expression or mathematical equation.

22. eight less than twice a number ______________________
23. three times the sum of six and a number ______________________
24. The product of seven and a number is twelve ______________________
25. Five more than three times a number is ten_______________________

Use the given property to rewrite the expression.
Commutative (change order)
Associative (change parentheses)
Distributive (hand out mult)
26. x + y Commutative(+)
27. (m •n) • p Associative (x)
28. 2(a + b) Distributive

Simplify by using the distributive property and add/subt like terms.
29. 3(2x – 3y) – 6y
30. 5 + 4(5x + 2)

Add/Subt like terms (terms with the same variable)
Add or subtract, as indicated.
31. (3x + 4y + 5) + (2x – 3y – 7 )
32. (5a – 3b + 4c) – (6a + 3b + 2c)

REVIEW DATA ANALYSIS
Use the following data set.
3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 2, 20, 23, 50
33. Find the mean______, mode______, median______, outlier______
34. Make a box-and-whiskers plot for the previous data set.
34 Make a circle graph.
Day of Test Students who pass
Monday 25
Wednesday 65
Thursday 50

35. Make a scatter plot and tell if the relationship is positive, negative, or neutral.
Number of Questions Points per Question
25 4
20 5
10 10
