Our character word/trait for the month of January is...Orderliness
(Arranging things to make your life easier)
Why teach our children orderliness?
1. Orderliness helps us learn
2. Orderliness helps us to be more effective
3. Orderliness must be modeled and taught (Here is where we come in)
As teachers, we are role models to our children. They watch, listen and share.

I am very excited to be using the Writing Workshop method to teach writing this year!
We begin each lesson with a 15 minute minilesson.
We move to a 30 minute work time.
The third part of Writing Workshop is Share Time.
Share Time is when three students get to share their story with the class.
We are learning so much. It is very exciting to see the progress each child makes during the year. You may come by anytime and look at your child's writing notebooks.

Welcome to Kindergarten!
Kindergarten is always an exciting time. At this age, children love to learn. When children leave kindergarten they are able to write stories, read books, solve problems and work as team. Skills we all need to be successful in life inside and outside of school. The following grade levels build on what they learn in this all important first year.
This year, we are implementing Writer's, Reading and Math Workshops in kindergarten. Students are working and learning together. I feel students can learn best from each other. I am excited about seeing how much my students will grow this year. If you ever have any questions, feel free to call or email me. I check email several times a day and will answer any questions as soon a possible
Thanks,
Leigh Brooks
