Ms. Lacey Hedden

Goals: My goal this year is to help you advance and excel in your math class. We are going to work on concepts and identifying common misconceptions about math. Hopefully, you will leave this class with a better understanding of mathematical ideas.

Topics we will cover in Opportunity Math vary based on individual student need and are taken from the Georgia Performance Standards.

Procedures: Come in quietly. Consequences:
Take out your Math Journal 1st offense- Warning
Begin Brain Work 2nd offense- Warning
Wait Patiently 3rd offense- Silent Lunch
4th offense- Loss of stamp
5th offense- Office
Rules: Be Patient
Be Flexible
Be Respectful
Be Friendly
Be Honest

Expectations:
I expect you to come to class prepared: Pen (no pencils), any supplies that I ask to bring the previous class period.
I expect you to go to the bathroom before class starts.
I expect you to listen when I am speaking. There is a time to talk in this class, but when I am speaking, your eyes and ears are on me.
I expect you to let me know if you don’t understand something.
More to come…

Grades: Your grades in Opportunity Math are contingent on the following criteria:
Math Journal-25%
Participation-25%
Projects-50%

Math Journal-You will need to purchase and bring a single subject spiral notebook to class every day! This notebook is specifically for math journaling. Please do not write notes in, tear paper out of, or fold the paper in this notebook! I will take up math journals every other Friday.
Participation-Work with your group on assigned projects! Submit ideas and discuss topics given in class.
Projects-There are several projects we will be doing this semester. I do not grade for correctness, but I do grade for neatness, creativity, and presentation.
