After-school tutoring will begin March 1 for 8th grade students only. As you know, 8th grade is a benchmark year for AYP and NCLB. All 8th graders must pass the reading and math sections of the CRCT in April to be promoted to the 9th grade. Please be advised that this is based on teacher referral, as we are limited on space for this after-school tutoring program. If you have not been contacted by your child’s teacher and feel that your child is in need of this program, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher ASAP. This tutoring will be focused on math and reading only. Thanks for your help and understanding with this matter.
Cell phones have become more of a problem at school lately. I understand and agree that they have become an important part of our daily lives, but I am going to begin implementing a more strict policy concerning the use of cell phones at school. Beginning March 1, if a student is caught using a cell phone at school between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. it will be an automatic referral to the office. Please help us in reminding your child that they may use school phones while at school if necessary.
