I hope everyone had a restful and productive Spring break. Things are back to business here at Naomi. Teachers and students are squeezing in every last minute of instructional time before the CRCT.  
 
The art show will be tomorrow from 6-8, and the world famous Naomi Chorus will be performing as well.  
 
Spring pictures are Wednesday April 9th, and Kindergarten registration will take place Thursday April 10th.  
 
The plans for our classroom additions have been approved by the state and are currently up for bid, also projectors and SMARTboards have been installed in all of the existing classrooms.  
 
The CRCT will be given April 14-18 it is crucial that everyone be present and ready go during that week.

I hope things are going well for everyone. I just wanted to remind you of parent conference night on Tuesday March 18th. Your teachers will be sending a letter home to schedule that appointment.  
 
The PTO meeting will also take place that night at 6:30. We have also added an item to the agenda for the PTO meeting; Chris Jones, the director of Administrative services, will be here to give an update on the construction plans, and the talent show will take place after the PTO meeting.

Literacy week was a great success. The students here at Naomi actually read 2798 books last week. As a reward I am going to paint my hair blue tomorrow. The students are very excited about humiliating me, and yes feel free to drop by and laugh at me if you have some free time. Ms. Bowdoin is going to video tape it and post it on the Internet if you don’t have time to be here in person.  
 
It is crunch time. We only have 19 more instructional days before the CRCT. The end of the third 9 weeks grading period is Friday March 14, and report cards will be printed and sent home on March 17. This will give you plenty to discuss at the last round of parent conferences on March 18. Teachers will be contacting you soon about scheduling appointments for conferences. The last PTO meeting will take place later that night at 6:30; CRCT and after school programs are on the agenda. The talent show will also take place directly after the PTO meeting. Literacy Week has been a great success. I really think this has helped inspire many of our students to get excited about reading. The parent turnout this week has been exceptional.  
 
March 18th PTO meeting/ Talent Show/ CRCT night. 
Parent Conferences will begin at 3:00 and the PTO meeting will begin at 6:00. 
 
Speaking of parent turnout, the last PTO meeting of the year will take place at 6:00 on March 18th. I am sure that all of you are excited about the talent show that night, but other things will be happening as well.  
• We will have a representative from the YMCA who will give a presentation about starting an after-school program at NAOMI next year.  
• I will also be giving a presentation on the CRCT.  
• Before all of that takes place we will be scheduling one more round of parent conferences on the same day. These conferences will allow us to share every piece of data that we have on your children. This is the most important conference of the year and I encourage you to make every effort to attend. The conferences will be scheduled between 3:00 and 6:00 so each conference will be short and to the point. I hope you all can make it, and thank you for your continued support.

Wow… things are going well. I can’t believe how quickly our kindergarten students are advancing. They are reading with fluency and writing comprehendible sentences. It is a joy to be able to walk into any classroom and see evidence that our students are embracing the writing process. It thrills me to walk down the hall and see evidence of learning posted, complete with GPS, rubrics and commentary. We truly have exceptional teachers and students here at Naomi.
