Art
Ms. Hawkins 2008 - 2009 Visual Arts 6, 7, 8
Welcome to Art Class! This is going to be a very exciting year at LaFayette Middle School, and I am excited to be your new teacher. Art, like life, is what you make of it. So get ready to create, imagine, and learn!
Each grade level will experiment with many different art mediums and will produce work in several different styles. Artwork will be produced in the form of painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, and beyond. Students will be given the opportunity to create a final project based on their discovered personal preferences.
6th grade: Students will be introduced to the elements of art and principles of design.
7th grade: Students will work on concepts such as art theory, aesthetics, and perspective.
8th grade: Students will explore different movements within art history and will focus on multicultural art.
We will have a county wide art show in the spring. All year I will be looking for some great art work, so give me your best effort! Even if you don’t think of yourself as artistic, never ever give up. The best masterpieces created are often “accidents.”
