All reading and "Character Shadow" work should be done before May 9. We will then do our final discussions and learn vocabulary from the novel. This will conclude our year. It is very important for the quarter grade for students to finish strong. 
Your students should be receiving the summer reading list soon. There are also books for adults to read on the list. Try to make reading an important part of the summer for the whole family! 
It has, indeed, been my very great pleasure to work with you and your 8th graders this year. We have had a very productive year, and I am confident that the kids have the skills they need to move on. Have a wonderful summer!

The deadline for the poetry books is May 9. Students may earn extra credit for an early turn-in on May 8. We will do a quick read of Beowulf and also work on our end-of-the-year activities in the last two weeks of school. 
Thanks so much for sending your students to us. We have had a great time this year. I hope to see all of you next year! We will continue our study of sea pandas and other burning topics!
