There are a couple of pieces of information that you might be interested in. There is a web browser, http://www.goodsearch.com , that will donate a penny to CVMS for each search made. Think about using this as your main search engine. Also, there are some opportunities available through our parent center that you might want to look into. I will attach this information to a mass email. The third item is a new email group that I put together for our 7th grade team. It is called "parents 09/10". It is a secure method for us to get in contact with many parents at one time. If you receive one of these emails but do not want your name on this list please let me know so I can remove your information. I have double checked and no other parent can see your information or get in touch with you through these emails.

If you are interested in the specific topics of study that your 7th grader will be studying, check out the curriculum guide at the Georgia Standards website http://www.georgiastandards.org

Our first unit of study is the Middle East. We will be studying this diverse and important region for the entire first nine weeks. We will be studying their specific geography, culture, government, and economics.

Since some parents may not be aware of this(Weblog) new method of communication, I would like to motivate parents and their student to check it out. I will give 5 points extra credit to those that can prove to me that their parents are aware of this site. To let me know you looked at this blog, write down the password: dr. suess and then sign the piece of paper. Have a great weekend!

Students will take a GROW quiz and a "Weekly Quiz" on Fridays. To prepare for these, ask your student to bring their Social Studies notebook home. GROW information is in the GROW section and questions for the "Weekly Quiz" come from everything in the "Needs Grading" section in their notebook.
