We want to know what you think about the wireless laptops that Mr. James has in his classroom! Send us your opinions/stories!
If you are a parent, tell us a story about why you think this is a worthwhile project. Tell us what your child has said about having the laptops in a math classroom. Should we have them in all classrooms?
If you are a student tell us why you like the computers and how it has changed your classroom with Mr. James. Tell us what you like best about them and whether we should have them in everyclassroom.

Mr. James has begun a unit on Geometry. The laptops are working great and the students are excited to be using them. Mr. James has some great lessons planned with the upcoming geometry unit that will help students stay engaged and understand the GPS standards. We will be adding websites in the coming weeks where students can go at home and further their understanding on the concepts being covered.

Mr. James continues to see wonderful results from using the laptops in his classroom. Students are excited and look forward to the school days that they are used. Students are continuing to make progress with the Destination Math Software Program and are benefitting from the application-type problems that are given. It is application-type problems that students will need to solve when they take their CRCT test in Math on April 18, 2007.

Wireless Laptop Open House
Chattanooga Valley Middle School
January 8, 2007
6 - 7:30pm
PARENTS: DID YOU KNOW!
Chattanooga Valley Middle School received the FY 2006 Wireless Grant from the State of Georgia. The grant provided $75,000 for the purpose of implementing a wireless environment in a school setting. With the grant the school purchased 28, 14”, Apple I-books and is currently implementing the grant/program in Mr. Lance James’ 6th grade math class with a software program called Destination Math from the Riverdeep Interactive Learning Limited Company.
To show you more about this we would like to invite all of Mr. Lance James’ students and parents to attend this open house giving students and Mr. James an opportunity to showcase their work with the grant and laptops. There will be a brief overview of the grant and then an opportunity for your child to show you what they have learned so far this year.
Since each child has been assigned a laptop that other students use we will need to follow the schedule below. At the beginning of each time period we will give the overview of the grant and then allow for your child to show you what they have learned. Please plan on attending the open house at the times allotted below.

3rd Period Students - 6:20 – 6:40pm
