Learn how kids are connecting with their teachers, friends, counselors and parents - to turn drop out situations around and stay in school. Watch Disconnect: Why Kids Skip School and hear these real stories from parents and kids, along with expert advice:

Danielle Anzalone was bullied beginning in third grade and it continued for years. Feigning illness, she missed almost 40 days of school each year, until a special school counselor created a caring connection and sounding board, helping to undo some of the damage and keep her in school.

Gina Keane and Karina Perez each had a strategy for middle school: to be popular. They stopped getting good grades and hung out with "the wrong crowd." Then school counselors stepped in, creating a connection so strong that both of the girls knew someone at school cared enough about their absences, bad attitude, bad grades and bad choices to help turn the situation around.

Dwayne Hamilton-Frost, 18, suspended from school 40 different times, admits he had "a real problem with authority." Now, he's getting A's and B's, has made new friends and has not been suspended once. What helped turn him around? Connections with his parents, caring friends and a special English teacher made the difference.
