Gifted

My love of children and teaching surfaced as early as high school, where I served as president of the Future Teachers of America my senior year. I followed this dream through college and graduate work, obtaining degrees in education. I taught in elementary schools for 7 years before working with Tennessee Valley Authority as an Environmental Education Consultant. During this five years with TVA, I was elected to be the charter president of the Tennessee Environmental Education Association. I have been at Cherokee Ridge Elementary for the past eight years as a teacher of second grade, geography, and am currently serving the gifted program. During my career at CRE, I obtained an E. D. S. Degree and am active in the professional education organization, Delta Kappa Gamma.
My love for travel is reflected in my work, sharing experiences with my students. I love to cook and especially try multicultural recipes and dishes. A large portion of my extra time is filled with mission work in the country of Jamaica. This year marked my 23rd mission trip to this third world country. I enjoy spending time with my two adult children, Gabe and Susan, and my 17 pound orange cat, Pumpkin.
