The Science and Technology Center provides a variety of resources and services to the school district.

The building serves as a central meeting-place for the district and also is home to the Coordinator of Science, Technology, Gifted Education, and Information Services. Also at the Science and Technology Center are the district's Technology and Student Information support staff.

The New Walker County Observatory

ImageOn Friday, November 9, 2007, the Walker County Science and Technology Center in cooperation with NASA held a "first-light ceremony" for the new Walker County Observatory.  You can click one of the links below (Apple Quicktime player or equivalent can be used to view the stream, visit Apple's site if you wish to download the Installer for PC or Mac ) to see what the telescope is viewing right now.  If you see only a blue screen, that means the telescope is not being used for viewing at the moment.

To view the live video stream, click here

Remember, if you only see a blue screen, that means we don't have the camera on.  Refer to Apple's website for instructions or technical support on using Quicktime to view video.

For LIVE weather information (updated every 15 minutes when available) from the instruments at the Walker County Observatory, click here

While You're Here...

We recommend you also visit the award winning EcoConnections project's site.

The EcoConnections project is designed to develop web-based teaching modules for elementary, middle and high school students with a focus on character education, by linking social responsibility with environmental issues. Through the project, a model for Internet-based curriculum developmenttraining will emerge. All materials created through the Eco-Connections project will be freely-shared with teachers and administrators around the globe, with hope that the world will be a better place for children because of our collaborative efforts.
