About the Parent Mentor Partnership
The parent mentor program is a parent-driven initiative by Georgia Department of Education Division for Exceptional Students and Walker County Schools.  This position is staffed by a parent of a child with a disability whose purpose is to provide education and support to families with the long term objective of giving all children a better chance to reach their potential.

Who I Am

I joined the Parent Mentor Partnership for Walker County in August 2006.  Years earlier, my son was diagnosed with autism, starting my slow journey to becoming a parent mentor.
As an active parent of four children in the Walker County School system, I can completely understand that navigating the Special Education System can be confusing and overwhelming.  My role as a parent mentor is simply to help promote partnerships between parents and educators.  Working together as a team, WE CAN improve the lives of our children.
