Lori Cline, a 2007 graduate of Ridgeland High School, has won a second Gold with Distinction Award in the STAR events at the National Family, Careers & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Leadership Conference in California. Gold with Distinction is the highest award given in the STAR competition for FCCLA members.
Last year Lori was the first Ridgeland FCCLA member to win a national Gold with Distinction and now is the first to also hold two, consecutive national awards. She and Ridgeland senior Jami Duvall, with whom she shares this year's award, competed in the Applied Technology category. They planned, carried out and evaluated a year-long, community-based project utilizing specific technology techniques. Their project assisted a local elder care facility where Ridgeland FCCLA members volunteered in community service.
Also receiving an award at the National FCCLA Leadership Conference was Ridgeland's club advisor and Family and Consumer Science Instructor, Norma Carol Gault. Gault was named both a Georgia Master Advisor and a National Master FCCLA Advisor this year.
Gault has taught Family and Consumer Science and served as FCCLA advisor for 25 years. Her qualifications for Master Advisor include an outstanding program of work, students with state degrees, award winning chapter parents and years of community service.
She has led FCCLA to involvement in Stop the Violence, Families First, the Ronald McDonald House and national Programs of Action. Not only has she never missed a region or state meeting, Gault has served as the regional coordinator and a judge for national competition.

Walker County Board of Education Chairperson Patty Hart and Superintendent Melissa Mathis congratulate Lori Cline and Norma Carol Gault at a board meeting presentation.
