Laura Beth Vaughn, a LaFayette High School senior, has been nominated to compete in the Principal's Leadership Award (PLA) Scholarship Program, sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and Herff Jones, Inc. One hundred national PLA winners will be chosen this spring to receive a college scholarship ranging from $1,000 to $12,000.
Roger Hibbs, principal, announced the nomination which places Vaughn in the national competition. High school principals from across the country selected qualified seniors based on their leadership skills, participation in service organizations and clubs, achievement in arts and sciences, employment experience, and academic record. Considering leadership in co-curricular activities as well as academic performance, the PLA scholarship recognizes the importance of a well-rounded education and co-curricular activities as an essential part of curriculum.
NAASP promotes the intellectual growth, academic achievement, character development, leadership development, and physical well being of youth through its programs and student leadership services. Principal Roger Hibbs nominates senior Laura Beth Vaughn as LaFayette High's representative in the national Principal's Leadership Award (PLA) Scholarship Program this spring.
