...Produce plan for student achievement

In the middle of June while classrooms and hallways are normally quiet at schools, leadership teams from every Walker County School gathered at the Consultation and Evaluation Center for three days of intensive data retrieval training led by a professional team from the Northwest Georgia Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA).

"The most effective way to learn the best practices for teachers to lead our students to higher and higher achievement is to dig deeper into what’s really going on throughout the learning process," said Superintendent Melissa Mathis.  Newly researched and specialized data retrieval systems can help every teacher keep a clear picture of every student’s progress, she said.

With the vision of moving all students into meets and exceeds state standards before them, the superintendent, principals and leadership teams, eagerly delved into mounds of current student data.  Each school team determined what the information indicated, what information is still needed, and how teachers can use the information to help student achievement.
