On Wednesday, May 2, 2007, Walker County Teachers of the Gifted hosted the Walker County Young Authors' Fair.  Winners from each school, kindergarten through twelfth grade, gathered at the Walker County Civic Center to participate in a day of educational fun.  Presentations and activities about characterization in drama and writing, as well as cartooning and poetry, were planned to inspire creativity and depth in students' future writing.  Students were also introduced to some great new web sites and were provided with a lesson on Internet safety.

 

Each school was represented by grade level writing winners, who were awarded personalized medallions.  Parents and students alike were thrilled when county winners were announced and presented with a special plaque.  These students will go on to represent Walker County at the state writing competition.
