Walker County Schools Parent Mentor Michal Jones announces the Family Support Group North Meeting, for families with a child with a disability, will meet on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Center for Evaluation and Consultation (old Fairview School).  For more information, contact Michal Jones at 706-866-9778.

Walker County Schools Parent Mentor Michal Jones announces the Family Support Group South Meeting, for families with a child with a disability, will meet on the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at The Bank of LaFayette Community Room in LaFayette.  For more information, contact Michal Jones at 706-866-9778.

April – Ridgeland High School is holding its annual Plant Sale Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. during the month of April.  Many varieties of flowers and plants are available at affordable prices.  For more information, call Wendy Matteson at 706-829-9063.

April 8 – Rock Spring Elementary Principal Angie Ingram urges fifth graders and their families to attend Transition Night at Rock Spring Elementary to meet with Academy Assistant Principal Brandon Mosgrove to discuss current fifth graders' transition to the LaFayette Sixth Grade Academy.  The transition meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. followed by an informative session concerning Criterion Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) at 6:30 p.m.  All parents are urged to attend the CRCT session.  For more information, call 706-764-1383.

April 10 – Chattanooga Valley Elementary will host a kindergarten fair and registration from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m.  For more information, call 706-820-2511.

April 10 – Walker County Schools will begin kindergarten registration.  Students must be 5 years old by September 1st, 2008, and have been a Georgia resident for six months.  Parents will need to provide a birth certificate, Vision/Hearing/Dental form 3300, Immunization form 3231 and a Social Security number.  Parents may obtain more information and registration information by contacting or visiting the elementary school in their district.

April 10 – The LaFayette Middle School Amateur Radio Club will host an Open House from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.  Everyone in the community is invited to attend and find out more about the club and their activities.  For more information, call 706-638-6440.

April 14-18 – Middle and elementary schools in Walker County will administer Criterion Reference Competency Tests (CRCT), an annual statewide assessment in grades one through eight.  Parents please make sure students have a full night's rest and a nutritious breakfast before school each day.  Attendance and participation every day is very important to the success of every student.  

April 17 – Ridgeland High School will be featured on UCTV's "Spotlight on Schools" from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.  For more information, call 706-820-9063.
